Savvy
Program Description: Whether we want to acknowledge it or not, organizations develop their
own unique culture, and cultures are driven by politics. It is how businesses
accomplish the work that they do and it is unavoidable. If the “rules” for
interacting were always accessible and clearly understood, it would be
relatively easy to successfully navigate the dynamics of organizational daily
life. Of course, this is not always the case and as a result, many of us
struggle to figure it out. This workshop provides the commonsense [and savvy] tools and techniques
that enable us to tap into organizational politics in an effective – and
ethical – manner. Through an enhanced understanding of the unique way that
their organization operates, participants will be able to leverage their talent
and their power of persuasion to contribute to their organization. It will also
help them to avoid the pitfalls that result from being “out of the loop” and
being blindsided by the unwritten “rules of engagement”.
Program Topics: Participants will learn: § Ethical
strategies to better understand their organization’s political environment and
how to operate successfully within it § How
to increase their level of personal power and influence to get things done –
even when not in a position of authority § To
recognize and deal effectively with hidden agendas, covert behaviors and other
forms of deception in order to move forward to the desired outcome § To
accept organizational realities without counter-productive emotions and to
harness this knowledge to interact with integrity – and effectiveness § A
model for organizational savvy that will
guide them through future changes in the political landscape |
