This course covers UNIX operating system and Korn shell from a user perspective.  Various utilities associated with the Korn shell will be discussed, including the vi editor.  The course will conclude with basic coverage of Korn shell scripting.

Goals/Objectives

·   Log on to the system and change their password.

·   Customize and manage their user environment.

·   Start and stop applications and other processes.

·   Manage files and directories, including access control.

·   Create and edit files with the vi editor.

·    Use various utilities to obtain information and manipulate file contents.

·    Combine utilities and commands into simple Korn shell scripts.

·    Use operators and flow control to write more complex Korn shell scripts
