Project Smokejumper: Rescue and Recovery of Troubled Projects

The Project Smokejumper: Rescue and Recovery of Troubled Projects is a two and one-half day learning program designed to provide project management practitioners with effective tools and techniques to get errant projects back under control.

A smokejumper is a wild land firefighter who parachutes into a remote area to combat wildfires.  These intrepid men and women are dropped in to extremely remote and dangerous areas to help control or eliminate wildfire threats.  Though they do not typically encounter life or death situations like smokejumpers, many project managers are dropped into project “hot zones” to help rescue or recover ailing projects.

Project Scope, Schedule, and Cost Control

This two day course is designed to not only introduce better practices for scoping, scheduling, and costing a project; it is also structured to facilitate hands-on learning through individual and team application.

Project Scope, Schedule, and Cost Control is a two day training course designed to help project management practitioners incorporate better practices in defining, developing, and controlling the scope, schedule, and budget elements of a project.

The root cause for many project problems can be attributed to inadequate planning (or, in some cases, no planning at all).  More specifically, these organizations do not sufficiently define the scope (the “what?”), the activities (the “how?”), the schedule (the “when?”), and the costs (the “how much?”) required to successfully deliver the project.  Struggling project teams often drift into the execution phase without a well-defined plan.

This two day course is designed to not only introduce better practices for scoping, scheduling, and costing a project; it is also structured to facilitate hands-on learning through individual and team application.  Participants will leave the seminar with a better understanding of project planning techniques such as:  Work Breakdown Structures, Activity Breakdown, Network Diagramming, Critical Path, Schedule Development, Cost Budgeting, Cost Control, and Earned Value Management.
